The NetSpace web site is a worldwide interactive map representing all Cisco Networking Academies, and is intended to celebrate the success of the Cisco Networking Academy program. The web site builds a community of Networking Academy students and teachers and encourages visitors to spotlight an academy on the global map, locate academies in an interactive world, and view global milestones.
The Cisco Networking Academy program offers web-based content, online assessment, hand-on labs, instructor training, and preparation for industry certifications. The program is celebrating its 10th year of success. There are approximately 11,000 academies worldwide, with an estimated 2 million students, alumni and teachers in the network.
Live Axle worked with Davis Elen Advertising to develop the overall strategy for the NetSpace web site. Live Axle developed the concept for the interactive global map and completed all visual design for the web site. Live Axle created the network map in Flash and the site is driven by an extensive database which holds all of the Networking Academy location information. Based on latitude and longitude coordinates, each academy on the map is geographically accurate.
The NetSpace web site has received enthusiastic praise and participation by Cisco employees and Networking Academy students. Approximately 2,000 academies were "spotlighted" by visitors to the site within the first week of the official site launch, and new academies are spotlighted every day. Academies are initially unavailable in the application until students, teachers or alumni locate their Academy in the application and "spotlight" it or make it available, thus highlighting the local participation of everyone in the Networking Academy. In future releases, Live Axle will add an individual student/teacher networking feature, allowing visitors to register as Cisco Networking Academy participants, develop profiles and connect to academies and other students/teachers.
